That was fast! It was only a little more than a year ago that we were telling you about plans for a seven-story hotel on Sumner Place in Bushwick. Now, thanks to a fresh photo from a reader, you can see that the building is just about finished. Not sure what the speed says about the quality of construction, but it will likely be put to the test by the series of indie rock bands that is sure to make up the core of its clientele.

Wow, that is ragingly and offensively ugly. And especially stuck between two cool older buildings. The architect (if any) wasn’t even trying, were they?
I like the empty lot better.
I’m not architect, but this building is horrendous. It doesn’t even attempt to blend with the other structures.
What’s with the setback?
The buildings on either side are pretty cool, though.
I think it’s worth mentioning that George Spencer owns the building next door (the dentist), which he rents out illegally – it is zoned commercial – to residential tenants. He would be the prime beneficiary of that corner becoming safer and more popular with ‘the kids.’ Just reporting the facts.
