Two brothers who had been buried while working on a construction site near the Gowanus Canal yesterday were rescued from a ditch by firefighters and EMTs with some help from a powerful Con Ed vacuum. By the end of the day, DOB had issued three violations to Brooklyn 13th Street Holding Corporation, the company running the construction project. Andrew Feinman, the contractor and owner of the site, was unavailable for comment. Anyone know anyone about this guy?

If check DofB site – the permit for this address was conversion from 1 to 2 family.
Back in May they received violation for illegal demolition.
And before accident work was still continuing – for what seems there was no permit at all.
If they are here illegally – perhaps gov’t should enforce law and fine the employer/developer big time.
And don’t you think lawyers are rushing in to try to get a lawsuit with at least 30% for themselves.
The Developers have convinced our Mayor and other City officials that these “Minor” accidents and violations are to be accepted in the name of Development. They will tell you that the city is in a win win situation by allowing these illegalities to continue. Nobody “Really” is getting hurt and everyone gains by having all these Developments continue.
Has anybody at City Hall taken into consideration the cost to this City and it’s tax payers ( Proportionally- The Developer’s don’t pay any where near the same taxes as the small home owners ) for allowing the continued destruction of our Communities.
Yesterday alone over 100 Fire and Police personal were called to rescue those poor slobs. I heard that at least 10 rescue personal were hurt. Who is paying for all of this? Not the Developer. What about the worker they were probably here illegally and they probably have families to support. They and there families will end up on burdens of the City and state.
The only Win, Win is for the Developers and who ever they have paid off at City Hall.
Yeah, if it’s a Scarano project and someone kid drops a banana peel on the sidewalk in front of the site, and there is a trip and fall, Brownstoner would be jumping all over it. Not that I’m a big Scarano cheerleader, but Brownstoner you do harp on the dude.
Fair point
Wow, why isn’t the architect getting blamed here? If this were a Scarano project, Browstoner would have made him wholly responsible… No mention of the architect here? Speks volumes. Interesting.
I wonder whose tab the rescue and hospital costs go on. I do hope they charge the developer big time or because if these are illegals, it goes on the back of the taxpayer.
Does anybody know what the status of illegals are when they get injured on the job? Are they legally “invisible”?

In line with Brenda’s comments, I’m struck by this painterly photo. It reminds me of a Goya, perhaps, beautiful and eloquent and heartbreaking.
