The Brooklyn Heights Association sent out a very upbeat letter to its members yesterday reporting “important and encouraging news about Brooklyn Bridge Park”. According to the letter, local government representatives share the Associations suggestions for improving the park plan:

  • Reduce the high-rise proposed for Pier 6.
  • Provide more active indoor/outdoor recreation facilities.
  • Consider preserving the Purchase Building for Park uses.
  • Enhance all three Park entrances to be more inviting, providing
better access for pedestrians at Atlantic Avenue, Fulton Ferry
Landing and the Vinegar Hill/Farragut area.
  • Preserve the entire Con Ed site at the north end of the park as
parkland, and develop a feasible alternative building site elsewhere in DUMBO.
  • To make your opinion known to the Brooklyn Heights Association, email them at BHAParkView@aol.com.
