After fierce opposition, the city may have had a change of heart about the Bedford-Union Armory redevelopment in Crown Heights, officials revealed at a meeting Tuesday.
“That is something we are currently reevaluating,” the New York Daily News reported Economic Development Corporation president James Patchett said, referring to the 60 condos planned for the complex.

However, read between the lines: The city may drop the condos — which included affordable as well as market rate condos — but keep the luxury rentals. So the development, which is on city-owned property, will still be mixed-income rather than 100 percent affordable.
Local pols and community activists have been calling for the developer, BFC Partners, to make the complex 100 percent affordable since last year when developer Slate Property Group was embroiled in the Rivington House scandal and dropped out of the project.
