In a pattern we’ve seen before, developers are rushing to replace the 100-year-old Victorian free-standing homes with out-of-context multi-family dwellings before the area can be rezoned. Local preservationists, who have failed to get the area declared an historic district in the past, are hoping the City Planning will move swiftly with the rezoning. Other, less architecturally-minded and more bottom-line-oriented owners are against the idea of down-zoning.
