447 Clinton Avenue Getting Close
We noticed with interest last week that the fence has come down in front of 447 Clinton Avenue and that the windows (other than one that looks like it had a stone thrown through it), door and facade are looking finished. We noticed with interest last week that the fence has come down in front of 447 Clinton Avenue and that the windows (other than one that looks like it had a stone thrown through it), door and facade are looking finished. It’s about time! As you may recall, we walked through the 1850’s Italianate mansion three years ago as the renovation was just getting underway. Presumably the economic climate of the past couple of years hasn’t helped. Back then, the plan was for four rentals in this building and another two in the carriage house that fronts on Waverly.

Always meant to be a rental, the owner/developer wanted to own the building since his early days in the hood(1990s).
Now I think about it, why are they renting and not selling these apts? The reno was clearly done with buyers in mind.
This place was on the house tour last year. They were well along with the reno but not finished. Lots of detail kept, as you’ll see from the Brooklyn Properties listings. Some of the spaces are a little funky in terms of layouts. But some are pretty cool. As I recall, one apt has it’s own rather grand side stairs!
Hey Jonathan, when are we gonna see the inside of Sean Wilsey’s mansion? Isn’t it done by now?
“economic climate of the past couple of years”
Past? Huh.
Similar reno on Wash betw Dekalb/Willoughby. Love these babies.

If in detail you mean some brick walls, yes they were kept. Tough to build out kitchens and baths where there were none. The developer went for “green” design as a marketing play. Buildings like this lead to odd shaped apartments, which I like but are not everyone’s fancy. Outside is gorgeous.
Brooklyn Properties has the listings. I know multiple people who have seen the inside and applied for units. They don’t have C of O yet though.
I love it. An earlier article said they were keeping as much detail as possible – just goes to show what’s possible if you care enough.
