468 86th was the family store, Goldstyle, from 1933 to 1993 (yeah, I'm one of the descendants who sold the property). Who is doing the demolition? I would love to have some piece of it, no matter how trivial.

This article completely leaves out the many folks in PLG that want a responsible revitalization of Empire. This area of Empire is perfect for additional housing to help affordability. This will improve safety and provide additional commercial space. The nabe does not need anymore storage centers or shopping centers with huge parking lots.

The statement that "the proposed buildings in some areas over the railyard would be smaller, opening up more areas for open space" is misleading. The buildings' <em>footprints</em> would be smaller, but the towers would be far larger in volume (as well as taller). The developer wants the state to allow about 1.6 million square feet, worth perhaps $320 million, and take advantage of other, yet unspecified "public resources."
