Boerum Hill residents have been complaining about the service at the Times Plaza Station Post Office at 542 Atlantic Avenue for ever. Those frustrations reached a boil last week at community board meeting last week at which the Brooklyn Postmaster promised a turnaround for the trouble mail center: staff retraining, stricter attention to detail and a new manager were all promised over the next three months. Locals remain unconvinced. “This post office is just incompetent — I’m not at all confident things will change,” one area resident told The Brooklyn Paper. “Package deliveries don’t come, or when they leave a slip and you go to pick up the package, they already sent it back.” Even if the branch does get its act together, locals may still be out of luck: The lease is up in 2013. Anyone care to share horror stories of this branch or others?
The manager here is the problem. For a while he was gone and lines were down and service was up. I had them bend an envelope that had “photographs- DO NOT BEND” stamped all over it. His response? “what do you want me to do? bye!”
I had a po box here but had to get one in manhattan near work just so I did not have to wait 45-75 mins each time I wanted a package.
Once in 2005 or so I was waiting in line, and on the waiting area TV they were showing Antz. On VHS, bootlegged via snuck-in camcorder like you buy in Chinatown.
The post office has outlived its usefulness and should be disbanded
