“Brace For Impact: the Aftermath of Flight 1549”
Front Room Gallery is pleased to present Stephen Mallon’s “Brace For Impact: the aftermath of flight 1549. It is very difficult to encapsulate the events that happened during and following the crash of flight 1549, but Stephen Mallon’s large-scale photographs, taken during the salvage of the fuselage and engine, impart a physicality and scale to these incomprehensible occurrences. Mallon’s photos present us with the aftermath of this disaster and remind us how it was averted despite nearly unbeatable odds through the mastery and bravery of the pilot and crew. Brooklyn Music School’s Martin Luther King Celebration
The Brooklyn Music School’s Music & Vocal Department invites you to join them in honoring the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with music and songs performed by staff, students, and the Youth Rock Ensembles. The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located at the former bank at One Hanson for the rest of the winter. The clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall, will be the Flea’s new home every Saturday and Sunday through March, for 12 weekends only. Coney Island Now, Then & Forever

cHURCH OF MONIKA Opens
The cHURCH OF MONIKA’s mission is to use art as a surrogate for religion. The Church will be a moderated town hall type of meeting rather than a sermon with topics varying each week. Lily White, composer and musician, will lead a free workshop in which she asks the question: What would you want to say to the world if you knew you would die tomorrow? Participants will be asked to explore creativity in a variety of ways The workshop will be approximately one hour long. Snacks and coffee will be served. E-Waste Recycling
There will be an electronics recycling event sponsored by the Lower East Side Ecology Center this Sunday.
