The 5th Annual Red Hook Harvest Festival
At this year’s Red Hook Harvest Festival, there will be a pumpkin path and lots of kids’ activities, including face painting and live animals to pet! There will also be an expanded Farmers Market, music, and educational activities! Great food will be provided by the Good Fork, iCi, Rice, Kevins, the Angel Family and Cynthias Soul Food Kitchen. Saturday, October 24. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Free. Red Hook Community Farm.
Brooklyn Flea
The Brooklyn Flea takes place in Ft. Greene on Saturday and its historic Brooklyn Bridge location on Sunday. Both locations feature a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Saturday, October 24. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues. Sunday, October 25. 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. In Dumbo, underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at the corner of Water and New Dock Street.

M.U.G.A.B.E.E. at Irondale
Mississippi based artists M.U.G.A.B.E.E will bring their unique blend of hip hop, jazz, spoken word to the Irondale center for an exclusive, two-night engagement featuring exceptional jazz pianist Courtney Bryan and a host of guest musicians in a return engagement to Brooklyn’s Irondale Center. M.U.G.A.B.E.E is the combined talents of the brothers Carlton and Maurice Turner- singers, songwriters, playwrights, producers and teachers, whose explosive style of performance is sure to move your soul. Grand Opening for Clover’s Fine Art Gallery & Café
The opening exhibition will showcase paintings, drawings and sculptures by Michael Escoffery. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Escoffery has exhibited in over 160 solo and 200 group exhibitions worldwide. Escoffery’s on-going analysis of contemporary life creates a new reality and engages viewers to analyze the relationship between color, form and texture. His exhibition will run from October 23rd to November 16th, 2009. Clover’s Fine Art Gallery & Café features a grand piano and audio system for private events, live jazz, blues and classical performances. All are welcome. Sustainable Flatbush Fall Walking Tour
This free event is a perfect opportunity to visit Victorian Flatbush in the heart of Brooklyn and experience the neighborhood’s breathtaking street trees—including some that are more than 100 years old! Throughout the tour, your street tree guide will identify trees and their characteristics, discuss the many ways street trees benefit the environment, explain how to obtain and care for street trees, and much more. Tours take about 2 hours to complete and are 1 mile in length. Saturday, October 24. 2 tours – one starts at 11 a.m. and the other at 12 p.m. Free. Tours start at 376 Argyle Road, Sacred Vibes Apothecary.
Brooklyn Homeshow
Get a unique start on your holiday shopping at the Brooklyn Homeshow, where a diverse group of local artists and designers from the tri-state area will showcase their handmade goods at a Park Slope apartment. All goods are 100% original and handmade. All are welcome. Saturday, October 24. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 162 16th Street, South Slope.
The 4th Annual Halloween Spooky-tacular
The North Flatbush Avenue Business Improvement District will be hosting along with the Pacific Street Bears Community Garden, their 4th Annual Halloween Spooky-tacular Children’s Event. Kids can decorate a pumpkin (there will be a free pumpkin give away “while supplies last”), have their faces painted, listen in on some spooky storytelling, or have a walk through a scary graveyard. There will be giveaways as well as a raffle ($1) for a children’s Halloween costume. Give your kids a taste of Halloween before the big day!!! Sunday, October 25. 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Entrance on Flatbush Avenue and Pacific Street, The Pacific Street Bears Community Garden.
The 6th Annual Children’s Halloween Parade & Party
Led by NY Finest’s Jazz Ensemble, everyone is invited to march down Manhattan Avenue to Nassau Avenue and back again to 176 Java Street to a spook-tacular party for kids up to 12 years old. There will be games, crafts, music & yummy things to eat. Tons of fun for all!
Sunday, October 25. Parade at 4 p.m. Party at 7 p.m. Party Admission $5 for 1 Kid/1 Adult. Parade starts at 176 Java Street.
