STREB at SLAM: Catapult
The circus is coming to Williamsburg. Sorta. Catapult is billed as home-grown action heroes that launch themselves and inanimate objects into the air. Think of it as like Cirque du Soleil. The show runs through May 17th on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m. & 7 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. You can buy tickets online here or call 212-352-3101.

Red Hook Walking Tour
Center for the Urban Environment’s walking tour will explore the neighborhood of Red Hook. Tour guide Francis Morrone will discuss the neighborhood’s decline from its industrial heyday, the changes currently taking place, and a future mired in controversy. Also to be discussed is the architecture and the water views.

Winter Pop-Up Flea
This weekend at the Dumbo Winter Pop-Up Flea will consist of various guest DJs and more. The Flea features 35 top vintage/antique vendors of furniture, clothing, objects, jewelry, curiosities, accessories, art, lighting, and food. For more details on all the vendors, click here.

Bushwick in Williamsburg Walking Tour
The other Center for the Urban Environment walking tour this weekend will explore the neighborhood of Bushwick and Williamsburg. Tour guide John Dereszewski will explore the Morgantown community, Bushwick’s “New Lots,” and the early settlement of Williamsburg.

Help Tini Wine Bar Move
Tini Wine Bar has to move due to landlord and rent issues. Help them literally move the bar five blocks down Van Brunt Street to its new space “home/made” at 293 Van Brunt. Those who help out will be rewarded with complimentary coffee, pastries, and home/made eats.

Bacon Takedown
The Bacon Takedown event will celebrate the wonder that is bacon. Participants can pay $10 to taste the bacon creations. There will be over 30 to pick from.

Composting in Fort Greene Park Meeting
The all-volunteer, weekly compost pick-up at Fort Greene Park has been running for over three years, and now takes 1,000 lbs of food scraps every week. However, the 4 gardens that take the scraps every week are all at (or quickly reaching) their limits on space so a new plan is urgently needed if this project is going to be sustainable in the long term. The Park needs your help figuring out how to continue so attend this meeting to help.

Opening Reception for The Mermaid Ball
Robert Sievert’s paintings in his latest show were inspired by Coney Island’s Mermaid Ball. The paintings are direct observations of models posing as guests seen at the Mermaid Ball.
