FYI, for those of you still reading this last-week’s news post, I’m pretty sure the next tunnel tour is actually on 3/8, not the 15th.
The tunnel tour is quite a trip, and hearing Bob Diamond’s tales (assume many are true) is fascinating. I’ve done it three times over the last 10 years and have really enjoyed it. The last time I took my older daughter. I’d love to see some of the projects around opening up the tunnel and re-using it come to fruition, but regrettably the city is more focused on homogenizing things with big-box stores than small projects that bring out something unique. Anyway, wear clothes that can get dirty.
Rob, life is full of hurdles isn’t it?
Two words alsawo: Bed bugs.
I’m intrigued by the clothing swap. Has anyone been and can vouch for it?
Just got off the phone with a woman at the number for the tunnel tour. It’s booked for this weekend. They do, however, have some openings for a tour on March 15. Nothing is scheduled beyond that point.

Atlantic Ave Tunnel:
When Hubby was at Pratt about 10 years ago, we had the opportunity of going into the Tunnel. There were only a handful of us. Now I think the tours are popular. I’ve seen hordes of people line up outside of the bank building on Court / Atlantic, what is now Trader Joe’s.
Regardless, I highly highly recommend for all New Yorkers to take a jaunt through this tunnel. Heck, just the sheer fact that you get to go through a manhole cover in the middle of Brooklyn in NYC is thrilling, oh yeah and the tunnel is soooo cool too.
oooooh i totally want to do that tunnel thing! the reservation thing is annoying tho. is it just call and say youll be there or do you have to pay upfront on the phone with a credit card or something?
