Idiotarod is back. Costumed racers will brave the cold with a shopping cart for this take on the famed Iditarod dogsled race in Alaska. Registration is still open, and as of now, the starting point is Socrates Sculpture Park in Astoria. However, the starting point can change as do the various checkpoints but you can expect there will be some in Brooklyn so be on the lookout.
Saturday, January 31. Race starts at 10 a.m.
Super Bowl at The Bell House
The Bell House will broadcast the Super Bowl on their big screen. There will be plenty of chili and beer for the big game as well.

Winter Pop-Up Flea
Starting this weekend, the Dumbo Winter Pop-Up Flea is expanding. The Flea will feature 35 top vintage/antique vendors of furniture, clothing, objects, jewelry, curiosities, accessories, art, lighting, and now food. For more details on all the vendors, click here.

Popcorn Winter Gala
The Popcorn School, a local co-op pre-school, is having its annual fundraiser. There will be dinner, dancing, and a silent auction.

NY Food Museum Presents Over Spilt Milk
The NY Food Museum and City Reliquary present its latest exhibition, “Over Spilt Milk: The Fight for Fair Price & Fair Profit in Depression Era New York.” Consumer-Farmer Milk Cooperative pamphlets and broadsides, vintage milk cartons, and miniature dioramas will be on display. Refreshments will be served at this opening reception, courtesy of Peanut Butter Co.

The Forewords at Sound Fix Lounge
The Forewords consist of writers Paul Lukas and Liz Clayton, a musicless “band” that uses PowerPoint slideshows to create surprisingly entertaining presentations on unlikely topics like trade magazines, really bad architectural makeovers, mousetrap packaging, butchery chart design, and more.
