Crown Heights North House Tour
Crown Heights North Association, Inc. is hosting its Second Annual Crown Heights North House & Garden Tour. Attendees will have an opportunity to enter and view some of Crown Height’s residential and sacred architecture. The tour, which starts at noon, is preceded by a free homebuyer’s workshop with info on mortgages, avoiding predatory loans, and financing (9:30-10:30 a.m.).
Saturday, October 4. 12 p.m. $20 for advance tickets, $25 on the day of the tour. Meet at St. Gregory’s RC Parish Church, 991 St. Johns Place.

Brooklyn Navy Yard Open Studios
Visit over 35 artists’ studios in The Brooklyn Navy Yard. Browse art by painters, printmakers, sculptors, installation artists, scenic muralists, and furniture makers.
Saturday, October 4. 12-6 p.m. Free. 63 Flushing Avenue.

34th Annual Atlantic Antic Street Festival
The Annual Atlantic Antic Street Festival spans 10 blocks of Atlantic Avenue, from 4th Avenue in Boerum Hill all the way to Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights. The festival features food, live music, local crafts, and more.
Sunday, October 5. 10-6 p.m. Rain or shine. Free. Atlantic Avenue from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue.

Clinton Hill Arts Festival
The Clinton Hill Arts Festival is scheduled for the first two weekends in October. Festival organizer Anders Knutsson is behind this project called Brooklyn as a State of Mind.” The festival features over 40 mostly Brooklyn based artists’ works.
Opening Reception tonight, 6-9 p.m. Festival is Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5. 12-6 p.m. Free. Lofts on Lex, 95 Lexington.

Williamsburg Fashion Weekend
In its third season, Williamsburg Fashion Weekend showcases eight Brooklyn-based designers who make one-of-a-kind or small-run collections, with an emphasis on fair-trade, eco-friendliness, and artisan techniques.

First Annual Coney Island Freaktoberfest
Attend the First Annual Coney Island Freaktoberfest Boutique Beer & Music Festival and enjoy American craft beers, live music, burlesque, and a performance by the Coney Island Sideshow. Proceeds benefit Coney Island USA, a non-profit dedicated to preserving the “lost forms of American popular arts and culture” in historic Coney Island.

Constructed Perfection’s ART RESPONSE!®
ART RESPONSE!® is a peaceful silent protest where you can paint your reaction to present day America. At 5 p.m. the event moves to the Arch of Grand Army Plaza where the art will be presented to passing pedestrian and mobile traffic in silence for 15 minutes.

The Great American Book Drive at Brooklyn Public Library
Better World Books’ Great American Book Drive encourages the community to donate their used books to help raise money for Brooklyn Public Library’s collections and programs. Along with crafts for kids throughout the event, Lost in the Stacks will perform from 11-1 p.m.

Bed-Stuy Community Garden Tour
On this guided tour, get to know the community gardens in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The tour begins with a breakfast at the Madison Street Block Association Garden and then walk, bike, or ride the bus to visit the gardens.

First Annual Benefit for the Green-Wood Historic Fund
Gala fundraiser for the Green-Wood Historic Fund, featuring the cast of “Angels and Accordians.” Debby Applegate, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Henry Ward Beecher: The Most Famous Man in America, will be honored.

  2. Montrose, unfortunately I’m out of town this weekend, but had really wanted to go. I can imagine how stunningly beautiful the homes must be. Perhaps Mr.B will resurrect the House Tour summary on Monday to recap and show some pictures of the event.

  3. Clarification on the Crown Heights House Tour: The tour is from 12 -5. We are having a kick off ceremony starting at 11:15, and tickets will be sold at the door from that time until around 3:30. The actual self guided tour starts at oon. There is a lot to see, so we recommend that you come early.

    St. Gregory’s is on the corner of St. Johns Place and Brooklyn Ave. Closest trains are the 3 to Nostrand or to Kingston Ave. St. Johns Place is 3 blocks north of Eastern Parkway.
