Preserving New York Symposium
On Saturday, the Museum of the City of New York and the New York Preservation Archive Project organize a symposium entitled “Preserving New York Then and Now.” Featuring a whole day of panel presentations and discussions, the event also includes lunch, an authors’ signing, and a cocktail reception. Mr. B will be participating in the panel “The Media and Preservation: New Media, Old Role?” that begins at 11:45 a.m. Seating is limited. A media festival takes place today. “I Love to Read” Book Fair
This weekend, check out the Black History Month “I Love to Read” Book Fair. Dominic Carter, Inside City Hall host and author, guests. Live Music at Two Boots

African Cinema at BAM
Beginning today, BAM’s Rose Cinema presents a number of screenings as part of “The Best of the African Diaspora Film Festival.” The film series is in its sixth year at BAM. African Lives in Old Brooklyn
The Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum and the Weeksville Heritage Center present “African Lives in Old Brooklyn: From Wyckoff to Weeksville.” The event features art, dancing, lectures, and more. Greening Flatbush Event
On Sunday, The Sustainable Flatbush Gardening Commitee sponsors “Greening Flatbush: Garden Where You Are.” Learn how to beautify and improve the environment of the neighborhood. Pop Subversion: Food as Art?
On Sunday, Ad Hoc Art Gallery and Wheeler’s Frozen Desserts host an interactive food gala featuring a menu of Platinum Patron margarita, Moet-Rose champagne, Mojito sorbets, and five other surprise flavors of ice cream. Hannah Kaminsky, author of My Sweet Vegan provides cakes and cookies. The gallery presents the exhibition “Pop Subversion,” showcasing the work of over 30 established and emerging artists. Brooklyn Philharmonic: Music Off the Walls
On Sunday, the Brooklyn Philharmonic continues its series “Music Off the Walls” with “A Man May Travel.” They perform works by notable Chinese composers such as Tan Dun, Chen Yi and Bright Sheng.
