Society for Clinton Hill Artisans Holiday Fair
This December, the Society for Clinton Hill, along with Habana Outpost, hosts its first annual holiday arts and crafts fair. For the next four weekends this month, artisans will have their works on display and available for purchase. Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Habana Outpost, South Portland and Fulton Street.
First Saturday at Brooklyn Museum
As part of its First Saturday series, Brooklyn Museum presents Parang, festive Caribbean music, with the Starlite Serenaders, discussions with artists Rene Lynch and Patricia Cronin, and three Young Voices Gallery Talks. The night ends with a dance party featuring DJ Laylo. Check the website for a full schedule. The Museum Café offers a selection of sandwiches, salads, and beverages; a cash bar offers wine and beer. Anatomy of a Brownstone
The Division of Continuing Education and the Department of Architectural Technology at New York City College of Technology are collaborating once again to present an afternoon seminar, “Anatomy of a Brownstone: Greening Your Home and Living Sustainably.” The seminar takes place Saturday, December 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Atrium Amphitheatre, 300 Jay Street, Downtown Brooklyn. Admission for the event is $35 per person and those planning to attend should register in advance by calling 718.552.1170.
“Capturing Brooklyn” Photo Exhibit
From today until January 10, the Fall Cafe presents the exhibit “Capturing Brooklyn.” Local photographer Donna Schneiderman highlights the uniqueness of Carroll Gardens, Gowanus and Red Hook. A reception takes place on December 7 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday. 307 Smith Street, near Union Street.
Underbridge Pictures: Opening Reception
This Sunday, Underbridge Pictures hosts an opening reception for the new exhibition from David Sokosh, entitled, “Christmas: Contemporary Tintypes of Vintage Christmas Ornaments.” The exhibition runs through Sunday, December 23. Holiday Crafts Fair
The Brooklyn Friends School holds its 28th Annual Holiday Craft Fair this Saturday. Over 50 vendors will offer a selection of handcrafted items, such as ceramics, sweaters, scarves, musical instruments, jewelry, and other one-of-a-kind items. PS 39 Winterful Craft Fair
This Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., PS 39 holds their craft fair at the old John Jay High School (7th Avenue, between 4th and 5th Streets in Park Slope). Buy items from local artisans and enjoy food from neighborhood restaurants. Children’s entertainment includes a visit from Santa, raffles, and more.
Tasting at Uva Wines
