A rough cut of an excerpt of the film, Gentrifying Brooklyn, will be screening on Saturday. Participants will then be encouraged for discussions and critiques about the film. Also, the hosts are going to be engaging the audience in questions about the neighborhood changes. This to be a great opportunity for the community to share a meaningful conversation with each other about the neighborhood. Saturday, June 19. 7 p.m. 558 St. Johns Place, Five Myles Gallery.

Jazz: Brooklyn’s Beat
Jazz: Brooklyn’s Beat is a unique collaboration between eight esteemed non-profits working together to bring jazz musicians, singers and artists from around the globe to Brooklyn, which is home to 16% of WBGO’s listeners. The series celebrates Brooklyn’s diversity through both indoor and outdoor concerts, dances, interviews and more. This weekend, the Helen Sung Group will be performing with guest vocalist, Carolyn Leonhart. Saturday, June 19. 1 p.m. & 2 p.m. Free with admission. Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located not only at the former bank at One Hanson, but also at the Fort Greene market. On Saturdays, the market will be located at the Fort Greene location and on Sundays you can find the market at One Hanson which is located at the clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. 1st Annual NYC Underground Railroad Festival: “Spirited By Song
Trace the steps of the ancestors in their pursuit of freedom at an actual stop on the Underground Railroad, take a virtual tour of 19th century abolitionist sites in New York, hear a keynote address by NY Underground Railroad scholars Paul & Mary Liz Stewart, and finish the day with the award winning love story about the Underground Railroad, Singin Wid A Sword in Ma Han. Brooklyn 101
Join Norman Oder on an eclectic and energetic introduction to Brooklyn’s history, architecture, lore, and landscape, including Park Slope, Prospect Park, and Brooklyn Heights, ending at Fulton Ferry. Saturday, June 19. 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. $15. Southwest corner of Plaza Street and Flatbush Avenue.

3rd Annual SummerFest
With student performances and work exhibitions, games for all ages, face painting, a Taste of Fort Greene/Clinton Hill Food Fest with local, contributing restaurants, and the Brooklyn Steppers, who performed at Obama’s inauguration, will provide an energetic performance. This day is a chance for the larger community to enjoy the season and build community while learning more about their creative neighborhood school and its students. What Lies Beneath: Secrets of 19th-Century Brooklynites Trolley Tour
Join Jocelyn Wills, history professor at Brooklyn College, assisted by Green-Wood Cemetery historian Jeff Richman, on a trolley tour of the Cemetery grounds, featuring 19th-century Brooklynites who were economic and social climbers, some of whom triumphed, some of whom did not.
