In 2005, Williamsburg and Greenpoint residents were promised a twenty eight acre waterfront park stretching from North 9th Street to the Bushwick Inlet. Five years later much of that waterfront is still not accessible. The Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park and their friends at Neighbors Allied for Good Growth decided to drink some good beer and eat delicious bratwursts to fundraise for the Bushwick Inlet Park. 5th Annual Spring Fling
Join the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, in partnership with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation, for the 5th Annual Spring Fling celebration in Brooklyn Bridge Park — this year on the newly-opened Pier 1. This Mother’s Day event will feature musical guest AudraRox playing a rocking set for kids and adults. Children’s book author and illustrator Betsy Lewin, will read from “Click, Clack, Moo,” and offer a drawing demo. Come and enjoy! There will be much, much more! The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located not only at the former bank at One Hanson, but also at the Fort Greene market. On Saturdays, the market will be located at the Fort Greene location and on Sundays you can find the market at One Hanson which is located at the clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. PS11’s 3rd Annual Silent Auction
Participants will be partying with DJ Dhundee, engaging in a tasting by Gnarly Vines, and enjoying refreshments by Brooklyn Brewery. “Eurotrash”: Opening Reception
See featuring artists, DOLK and M-CITY at Brooklynite Gallery this Saturday. Reclusive, Norwegian stencil artist DOLK, emerges from the shadows to showcase a new collection of cutting imagery. Often monochromatic with one precisely placed color, DOLK crafts strangely beautiful story-lines into his work. M-CITY, Poland’s most prolific artist working in the public space, erects yet another large scale mural on any number of continents. Using his graphic brand of stencil artillery that includes images of smoke-stack factories, cogs and gears, and repetitive city blocks. All are welcome to attend. Spring Carnival

Brooklyn’s P.S. 39 is having its first ever Spring Carnival on May 8, (rain date May 15). Coinciding with the annual pre-Mother’s day Plant Sale, the Carnival will be open to the community, and features: pony rides, a bouncy house, live bluegrass music, games, face – painting, delicious food, crafts, and fantastic raffle prizes. Greencycle Swap
Need to find a way to recycle….well everything that you have? Town Square has partnered up with their neighbors throughout Greenpoint and Williamsburg so that you can reduce, reuse, and recycle gently used & working clothes, shoes, toys, books, & cell phones! You can also recycle your computers (working and non-working), electronics (working only please), and now with the help of Recycle-A-Bicycle, working bicycles too! Green-Wood’s Great Women
Join Ruth Edebohls on Mother’s Day to celebrate some of the most colorful and influential women of the 19th and early 20th century who are buried here. Matilda Tone, wife of the Irish patriot, pioneering doctors Susan McKinney- Steward and Mary Jacobi, abolitionist Abigail Gibbons, and actresses Laura Keene and Kate Claxton rest here along with the more notorious Lola Montez and Elizabeth Tilton. Participants will also enjoy the visual delights of Green-Wood, its trees and ponds and its sculpture and buildings by the leading artists and architects of their time, all in a setting of remarkable springtime beauty.
