AOP and Opera on Tap return to Galapagos Art Space for the fourth in this ongoing series that brings the best of contemporary opera to one of Brooklyn’s most innovative art venues. This event features artists such as: Absynth and Dreams of Pure Spirit. There will also be a one-act opera based on one of Ray Bradbury’s short stories. Come and enjoy. Sunday in the Park at Domino
Celebrate Spring and explore the waterfront at The New Domino. There will be food, refreshments, music and children’s activities for the entire community. Enter at the Kent Avenue and South 3rd Street.
The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located not only at the former bank at One Hanson, but also at the Fort Greene market. On Saturdays, the market will be located at the Fort Greene location and on Sundays you can find the market at One Hanson which is located at the clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Earth Day Expo
Sean Meenan and the Habana Family are getting ready to kick off Habana Outpost’s season with the Annual Earth Day Expo. Habana Outpost will be holding a whole days worth of activities and events for adults and children alike. For the kiddies, there will be events such as: The ABC’s of bees and beekeeping, free eco-face painting, and an eco-fashion show where kids will have the opportunity to create and strut their fabulous selves in front of the courtyard. As for the adults, there will be a composting workshop, electronic waste recycling, local vendors where you can shop, and also people to talk to about getting involved with your surroundings. The English Kills: 3rd Year Anniversary
Come on out for English Kills 3rd Year Anniversary show this Saturday. Along with a slew of artists showing off their work (more than 20 artists!), there will also be music by The Controversy. The History of Brooklyn Heights (16102010): A Guided Walking Tour
Attendees will enjoy a multi-stop guided walking tour through Brooklyn Heights as guide Jane Carroll McGroarty, engages you with a detailed account of the intriguing past and present of this history filled neighborhood. Stops on the tour include Brooklyn Heights Homes dating as early as 1835 up to the late 20th century. She will also educate attendees on how to recognize brownstone styles including Federal, Greek Revival Gothic Revival, Italianate, Renaissance Revival, and Queen Anne. The rain date will be held on Sunday, April 25th. All are welcome to attend. Sunday, April 18. 12 p.m. $15. Tour leaves from the steps of Borough Hall.
All Sold Out – No Trees Sunday.
The turnout Saturday was overwhelming, so instead having of a two-day event on Fulton Street at the Putnam Triangle, all 200 trees were gone in less than 2 hours! Apparently, a lot of you agree that TREES ARE FAB.
