This event will help the Brooklyn Star due to the recent damage by fire. There will be beer from Brooklyn Brewery, whiskey from Whiskey Town and Wilfie & Nell, smoked meats from the Meat Hook, Momofuku Milk Bar sweets, and Brooklyn Star’s own brisket and shrimp and grits. All that, plus oyster shucking and hot-dog-eating contests. Pre-sale tickets have already been snatched up but you can still attend by purchasing tickets at the door. If Walls Could Talk: A Workshop on the Genealogy of Your Home
As part of the Brooklyn Heights Association’s Celebrating a Century yearlong series of events, the BHA will be presenting a two hour workshop. This workshop will help people discover the intriguing history of their house using BHS’ images, records and documents. Attendees will be introduced to the library collections as well as essential tools for house and building research, allowing them to piece together the architectural and social history of any Brooklyn home or block. The Brooklyn Flea
The Flea is located at the former bank at One Hanson for the rest of the winter. The clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall, will be the Flea’s new home every Saturday and Sunday through April 3rd & 4th. Meet & Greet with Alison Lowenstein
Local author, Alison Lowenstein will be signing copies of her newly released book, City Kid New York: The Ultimate Guide for NYC Parents with Kids Ages 4 – 12. There will be copes of her other books if you’d like to purchase them, as well. There will also be cookies and milk provided for kids that attend. All are welcome to come. Carroll Gardens Tour

Participants will learn about Carroll Park, the third oldest in Brooklyn; why the neighborhood has “gardens” in its name; a terrible murder on Third Street; about the area’s little known Norwegian and German histories; visits the former homes of churches, brothels, social clubs, political clubs and Pulitzer Prize-winner; and sample local foodstuffs. Free Vivian Girls Show!
Brooklyn Bowl is gearing up for round two of Local X Local featuring Brooklyn’s own indie chick-rockers Vivian Girls, with support from the German Measles. This monthly celebration of Brooklyn art and culture showcases local artists, musicians, food, entertainment and anything else that defines Brooklyn. As the borough continues to emerge as one of the nation’s fastest growing culture capitals, Local X Local allows New Yorkers a free, monthly opportunity to sample the fruits of Brooklyn. 21 and older are welcome to attend.
