Park Slope’s Second Annual Snowflake Celebration
The Park Slope Chamber of Commerce and the Buy in Brooklyn Campaign annouce the return of the Snowflake Celebration. Local merchants throw open their doors to stay open late and create a holiday atmosphere enabling you to do your holiday shopping. Each participating business will stay open until 10 p.m. and will offer some special promotion.

Atlantic Avenue Tree Lighting
Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation is sponsoring the Atlantic Avenue Tree Lighting Ceremony. There will be christmas carols and performances by local school children. The Holiday Windows Competition winners will be announced. The special guest for the event is Santa.

Brooklyn Documentaries: Observing Brooklyn; Encountering Change
The Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival in partnership with the Brooklyn Historical Society will present a Brooklyn-focused documentary series that illustrates the social and cultural changes in Brooklyn, both past and present. The “Observing Brooklyn; Encountering Change” documentaries series will illuminate a broad range of Brooklyn life including exploring a recently rediscovered century old tunnel beneath Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn stickball players sporting reunion, 1969 family outing in Coney Island, period Brooklyn footage, Brooklyn senior citizens doing some combative reminiscing, and several other short Brooklyn films.

NAG Organizing Meeting
This meeting will kick off NAG’s 2009 Organizing Agenda. Some of the topics on the agenda is preserving affordable housing options for residents, improving open space and access to the waterfront, and more.

Annual AIDS Day Candlelight Service and Ribbon Project
The Gay and Lesbian Ministry of Saint Augustine Roman Catholic Church announces its second annual World AIDS Day Candlelight Service and Memorial Ribbon Project. The event will also feature a talk by designer and teacher Jim Morgan, co-founder of Friends House.

Navigating the BSA
Join the Historic Districts Council informational presentation on the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals. Sunset Park Tree Lighting
The Sunset Park BID and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica will be hosting a Holiday Tree Ceremony. There will be music from various groups and schools and a magic show. Kids will be able to have their photo taken with Santa from 3-4 p.m.

Community Board 7’s Transportation Committee Meeting
CB7 is holding a meeting to hear a presentation by Transportation Alternatives on their ideas about the Prospect Park Drive and traffic around the park.

    I know this is a site about Broolyn but let’s not forget that Brooklyn is part of NYC.
    Maybe you should list such things under ‘Excursions’ or ‘For the traveler’
