Benefit for the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative
The Benefit for Brooklyn Greenway Initiative will be an evening of music and program shorts from some of Galapagos’ resident artists. Proceeds support the development of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, a 14-mile off-street bike and pedestrian route.

A Forum with Amanda Burden
The Executive and Landmarks/Land Use Committees of Brooklyn Community Board 6 host a forum with Amanda Burden, the Chairperson of the City Planning Commission. The forum will be an informational update by Burden on the department’s land use activities related to the Gowanus Canal corridor.

Skating Season Starts at Prospect Park
Prospect Park’s Wollman Rink opens for the season and stays open until March 15, 2009. Skate rental is $6.50.
Opens Wednesday, November 19. 8:30 a.m. Hours vary. Adults $5, Children (14 and under) and Seniors, $3. Rink is located near the Parkside and Ocean Avenue entrance to Prospect Park.
Fort Greene Association General Meeting
At the Fort Greene Association General Meeting, the main topic will be energy and the environment. The meeting will feature an in-depth presentation and panel discussion with experts from the Community Environmental Center. Also on the agenda is the issue of public safety with Police Captain Anthony Tasso from the 88th Police Precinct. Fort Greene residents are encouraged to attend.

Uncork’d for a Cause
Uncork’d for a Cause is a benefit for P.S. 29. There will be food, wine, and raffle items. Jeff Lederman of Bocca Lupo will donate all proceeds from the evening.

Frank McCourt, teacher, memoirist, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Angela’s Ashes talks about his thirty-year career of teaching in the public schools of New York City. This is also a fundraiser for P.S. 58.
