LICH Public Hearing
Borough President Marty Markowitz and Special Assistant to the Borough President Yvonne Graham will hold a public hearing on the future of Long Island College Hospital. If you want to attend the hearing, please RSVP by calling 718-802-4032 or e-mail to iguerrero@brooklynbp.nyc.gov. If you want to testify at the hearing, please bring ten copies of your testimony, and your testimony is limited to three minutes. All are encouraged to attend.

Brooklyn Independents: Baseball and Literature
Sandy Koufax, Joe Torre and Rico Petrocelli got their start on Brooklyn’s Parade Grounds sixty years ago. Brooklyn authors including Michael Thomas, Nicky Dawidoff and Kevin Baker discuss these legends in baseball literature.

Cobble Hill Association Fall General Meeting
The Cobble Hill Association is having their annual Fall general meeting. On the agenda is the Brooklyn Bridge Park, 182-194 Atlantic Avenue, fifttieth-anniversary dinner, and LICH. The featured guests will be soon-to-be State Senator-Elect Daniel Squadron, Arnold Licht and Toomas Sorra of the LICH doctors’ group, and Dominick Stanzione, the interim CEO of LICH.

Adult Education Presents Lies and Liars
Adult Education (“a useless lecture series”) will focus on the theme of “Lies and Liars.” The line-up will include “Confessions of a Literary Forger” from Lee Israel, “The Way We Lie” from Jill Stoddard, “On the Internet, Nobody Knows You’re a Fraud” from D.E. Rasso, and “You Are Not Going to Be Famous” from Jim Hanas. The event is hosted by comedian Charles Star.

NYSDEC/DOH’s Meeker Avenue Contaminant Plume Availability Session
Representatives from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) will be on hand to answer questions about the Meeker Avenue contaminant plume and the recent investigation results. They will also provide one-on-one meetings to discuss an individual property owner’s sampling results. Those living in the vicinity of the Meeker Avenue Plume Trackdown site are encouraged to attend.
