Lefferts Place Civic Association Meeting
The Lefferts Place Civic Association has a new set of officers and will soon have a new website. In the meantime, come catch up on the issues facing this corner of Clinton Hill the old-fashioned way by attending its next meeting on Wednesday evening. Wednesday, November 4, 7 p.m. at the Bethel SDA Church at the corner of Grand Avenue and Lefferts Place.
Climate Change: Picturing the Science
Join editors Gavin Schmidt and Joshua Wolfe, and author Frank Zeman at the Community Bookstore to celebrate their book, Climate Change: Picturing the Science. Schmidt and Wolfe address a host of observable changes, from the melting of ice and permafrost at the poles to the rising of sea levels in cities such as Venice and Miami in their book. From discussions of increasing drought, forest fires, and extreme storms to the deadly buildup of industrial and agriculture chemicals, the coverage is clear. Solar Hot Water Systems Workshop
Interested in learning about solar thermal systems? Along with a basic introduction, participants will be learning about solar thermal collectors, system components, design, system sizing and much more! Parties interested in this event need to pre-register. To do so, call the Continuing Studies Center at 718 552-1170. Adult Education: “The Proper Prank”
The Yes Men, Tim Harrod, Patrick Di Justo, and Stephen Bruckert all present a night of “The Proper Prank.” Be it political or internet based pranks, these guys have the right ideas and information to give you the insight of dealing with a prank of your own. 2nd Annual Fall Beer Tasting
This year’s tasting will be lead by Jeff Gorlechen of Sixpoint Craft Ales, who will lead everyone through a tasting of specialty brews, accompanied by Josh Sharkey of Park Slope’s Bark who will be on site preparing a special selection of the restaurant’s artisan chic hot dogs. There will also be special guests, City Council candidates Steve Levin (33rd District) and Brad Lander (39th District) in attendance.
