Teens and young adults are in need of a place of their own. The Friends Of Douglass/Greene Park want to make a skate park to give the aforementioned just that. Join the neighborhood and help made a skate park, picnic area, and playground for the community. The suggested donation is only ten bucks which includes food, drink, music, and a surprise raffle and silent auction. The items auctioned are donated from local shops, restaurants and artists. Community Conversation with Governor Paterson
Brooklyn Congregations Together (B.C.T.) is hosting a community conversation with NYS Govenor David Paterson. NYS Assemblywoman Annette M. Robinson, U.S. Representative Ed Towns, State Senator Velmanette Montgomery, and NYC Council Member Al Vann will all be present, as well. All are welcome to attend. Greene Hill Food Coop’s October General Meeting
In the Greene Hill food Coop’s last meeting, everyone worked as committees to outline the steps to open the cooperative. This coming meeting, the committees will take a look at a draft of the new road map to see what lies ahead, talk about the time frame, and visualize how certain committees can best work together. Holopaw at the City Reliquary
Hailing from Gainsville Florida, but steeped in the Brooklyn and North-east indie-folk pop strains, Holopaw plays music that has sweetness and grit, longing and potential violence, lulling strings undercut by anxious guitars, lilting “la’s” turning sinister and demanding. Horns, keyboards, guitars, cymbals and harmonic convergences tell fairytales with unsure endings. Thursday, October 22. 7 p.m. $5 suggested donation. 370 Metropolitan Avenue, City Reliquary.

Music in the Streets
Professional musicians from the Brooklyn Queens Conservatory of Music will be playing jazz, blues, folk and classical music on just about every corner of Brooklyn’s fashionable Fifth Avenue from Dean to 18th Street. Visitors can experience many different kinds of music as they dine, drink and shop their way along the avenue. Thursday, October 22 (and the 29th). 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Fifth Avenue from Dean to 18th Street.

Oktoberfest at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

This Oktoberfest-themed party will feature local craft beers, artisanal foods and cheeses, and beer talks held by Dr. Gerry Moore and Burkhard Bilger inside the Fragrance and Shakespeare Gardens. Tickets, on sale here, are just $25 and include all food and drink — and the chance to explore one of Brooklyn’s natural wonders after hours.
