“How to Fix Your Home and Save on Energy Bills”
Sustainable Flatbush is hosting an event and workshop to present information on the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). This federally-funded program provides home improvements that reduce energy bills by an average of 32%, while at the same time improving health, safety and comfort, all at NO COST to income-eligible homeowners and tenants. Although the Weatherization Assistance Program has existed for over 30 years, it is not well-known or understood. The purpose of this event is to connect Flatbush residents with the program’s benefits. Tuesday, March 8. 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Free. 203 East 37th Street, Mt. Zion Church of God.

Trivial and Convivial: BHS Pub Trivia Night
Have you ever played trivia in a 19th century landmark building in Brooklyn Heights? It’s probably time you did. Join veteran trivia hosts Stuart Post and Chris Kelley and the rest of the team at the Brooklyn Historical Society for BHS’ second pub-style trivia event featuring prizes, beer, food and, of course, competitive team trivia! Come test your wits with themed rounds about all sorts of Brooklyn ephemera including music, movies, geography and all-around general knowledge. There will be music clues, movie clips and more! If trivia’s not your thing, come by to cheer on the game and enjoy a Brooklyn Brewery beer in one of the most stunning interiors in Brooklyn. Come as a team, or come solo and we’ll find you a team. Combined Public Hearing and Board Meeting
The combined public hearing and board meeting will be held this Tuesday. The agenda will include information about the potential indoor “dome” covering the McCarren park tennis courts. There will also be information about the design concept for the Rodney Rodney Park Play Area. All are welcome to attend. Tuesday, March 8. 6:30 p.m. Free. 211 Ainslie Street, Brooklyn.

Sustainability Speakers Series: White Roof Project
Green Edge NYC will be hosting The Sustainability Speakers Series, the second Wednesday of each month featuring a local nonprofit or business that is making a difference in our community. Big Brooklyn Playdate
From building a peek-a-boo tunnel to making edible play dough, this hands-on, all day event will teach parents ways to play with their child and encourage early literacy at the same time. Brooklyn Public Library’s Read, Play, Grow! programs offer ideas about books to read and games to play that are fun and stimulate development. The Big Brooklyn Playdate is a part of the Read, Play, Grow! program and at this debut, parents will be able to see how using activities, books and games can lead to strong reading skills. The event is best suited for children birth to 3 years and their parents or caregivers.
