Hands-On Home Workshops: Installing Ceramic Tiles
These hands-on workshops teach you how to make basic home repairs and avoid calling in a professional plumber, electrician, carpenter or painter. We’ll show you how to repair a leaking toilet and patch and plaster a wall. Learn the basics of home electricity and how to install a light fixture. Cut a molding, unclog a trap, and become your own favorite handyperson. Or learn about Brooklyn’s historic house styles from the inside out- and how to keep them good as old. Show and Tell Open Mic Night
Hosted by minutiae-centric journalist Paul Lukas (whose past showing and telling at the City Reliquary has included an exhibition of his vintage recipe booklets with the word “Meat” in the title,) the Show and Tell Open Mic will be an evening dedicated to YOU and YOUR favorite item. Not a collector? That’s okay! The Reliquary is more interested in the Showing and Telling of stuff than the collections they come from. Bring your favorite thing and Show and Tell its stories! Help Me Help You: Stories for the 21st Century
Between The Lines brings together creative thinkers and storytellers from across the arts and sciences to examine a select theme through readings, short films, and performances. This second installment of season four is an exposition on just how we get by, from the help of friends, bail bondsmen, or the self-help section; Help Me Help You asks what’s in it for us when we act to make life easier, kinder, and sometimes just a little more beautiful. Featuring Lewis Hyde, Brian T. Edwards, John Haskell, David Lalé, Kristian Hove, James Newton, Annie P. Waldman; Brett Fletcher Lauer, Samantha Hunt, Emma Straub, and Meghan O’Rourke. BQE Enhancement Project Community Workshop
NYCEDC has hosted a series of collaborative workshops throughout the past 10 months to develop a vision to improve the BQE study area. At the first workshop in May, designers solicited input and local experience about this section of the BQE. At the second workshop in July, designers presented several alternatives for the community’s consideration. The final meeting will be a presentation of refined alternatives, and cost estimates for each, as well as a discussion of next steps.
