Window Guards – even if tenant never informs LL that they have children (despite yearly notices) – LL must inspect (?)

Great and informative comment, 10:02. Exactly why I would most likely never want to be a landlord (if I had the means). People just don’t [want to] get the connection. Just like with illegal immigration and cheap goods/services, or striking MTA workers and rising fares, etc, etc.

Oh you have to love the City Council – on one hand the bemoan the fact that there is no affordable housing and on the other they try to pass bill after bill socking it to “the evil Landlords” which of course simply raises the operating costs, and eventually rent.
Lets see:
You have Local Law 11 (facade) – or better known as lifetime annuity for structural engineers
Lead Paint Liability – funny how come the paint (or toy) manufactures face almost no liability here?
Bed bug liability – I get it – you take a used matress into the building, get bed bugs and the LL must spend thousands to deal with it
Now they want mold liability (of course there is no scientific tie-in between mold and health problems – but why let that stop you)
and of course Tony Avella (HACK) dog legislation – i.e. once you have a dog for 3mo you can have dogs forever (no regard that maybe the dog owner has dangerous dogs, doesnt fix or license dogs, or that the dog is a nuisance to the neighbors – for which LL is responsible)
But don’t worry now Warren Wilhelm (aka Bill Deblasio) says you must accept Section 8 tenants or face discrimination charge (not that Section 8 actually pays on a timely basis, or that there is anymore $ to prosecute these cases – so if your discriminated b/c your gay or black or whatever – I guess you just got pushed to the back of the line)
OH but why oh why isnt rental housing more affordable…..I wonder
