  1. Ha,ha,ha…that’s pretty funny. I opposed Dolly’s appointment in the first place and six years later I’m being accused (by 7:30) of being her minion. Oh well, the price of anonymity. Anyway, I agree that “Landmarks is ineffective at making people correct violations.,” if by “ineffective” we mean inefficient.

7:30 states, “This home already has multiple violations.” The way that violations often get corrected is either the seller has to clear them when trying to sell the property (after the buyer’s title company uncovers them), or the buyer has to correct them whenever they try to make some other LPC-regulated change. It’s not unlike a mechanics lien. Eventually it catches up with somebody. Not very efficient, and not very satisfying until the violations are cleared.

I wasn’t trying to step on anybody’s First Amendment rights. Existing violations or not, I still think making (additional) complaints to LPC is more purposeful than an anonymous personal attack on a blog. Given everything you know about Dolly Williams, do you really think you can use Brownstoner to shame her into doing what you think needs to be done?

  2. Landmarks is ineffective at making people correct violations. This home already has multiple violations. Lots of the neighbors have questioned it and that’s where it stands. Speaking out about corruption is one of the way that a democracy functions. But Dolly, you and your minions, who have probably seen this blog, and are posting above, aren’t aware of that pesky little detail. Neighboring Prospect Heights residents may not have much sunshine, clean air, or the the rights to stay in their homes much longer thanks ini part to you — but we still got free speech over here. And we don’t like you and your messed up house. Get used to it. You’ve been dethroned.

  3. I’m glad I’m not the only one whose wondered how Dolly William’s cheap and tacky renovation of the house on the corner of Dekalb and Cumberland passed muster with Landmarks. It really was a squandered opportunity and looks very slapdash.

  4. Now maybe Dolly Williams will have to account for the many landmark violations she has on the house she owns on the corner of Dekalb and Cumberland, across from Rice. Look at that ugly bay window made out of plywood. Look at the horrible windows. She has a construction company and a cool $1m to invest in Atlantic Yards and she can’t afford to install landmark quality windows. Why do the rest of us suck it up and take out loans to do our windows and she just doesn’t have to do it right? Also disgusting is that horrible way they have turned the backyard of that brownstone in to a parking lot. She must have maneuvered to get a curb cut through her connections too. Nobody else has a curb cut in the area. And on so public a street. She is making prime Fort Greene look like Arkansas white trash housing. On the UES or in Brooklyn Heights this would not fly. But somehow in Fort Greene we are stuck with her shenanigans. I hope some reporter reads this and goes over there and looks this up. It’s all true. Also check out the mockery they made of a pre-revolution era fence! It used to be beautiful and they chopped down it’s early supports and made it a sliding door opening for their hideous parking lot/yard. Yick. Showing once again how Marty and Bruce have zero taste in people and the buildings those people love!
