  1. t-house needs to host a brownstoner pot-luck at her place to prove to us those stoves are worthy hahahaha. (actually a potluck would be really cool whoever hosts it). sorry guys i dont think i can tho. unless you all want to sit on the floor in the living room eating nachos with a pitbull and a 16 year old beagle up in your grills.

    *rob*

  2. We had a GE Profile (all-gas) for 16 years and it was great.
When we went to sell the apartment, we installed a new 30″ Thermador as bait. It worked, and the apartment sold quickly.

I cooked on the Thermador for a few months, and it was nice, but I didn’t really notice a big difference from the GE.

  3. Mopar,

I had generic cheapo stoves forever when I was renting and did just fine. When we moved in here though I did semi splurge and go for a higher-end GE Profile 6 burner dual convection oven with internal temperature probe. It was 2,300(?) if memory serves. So that’s nowhere near the price of a Viking.

I gotta say it’s pretty darn amazing. I can just stick the probe in the roast plug it into the oven tell it what the internal temp of the roast should be and convection roast it. The oven beeps and turns off when it’s done. The outside gets a perfect even all over crisp and the inside is dripping juicy.

That’s not to say I couldn’t do that in my old generic oven but it sure took a lot more checking, re-checking and triple checking.

I like to cook and I really enjoy having the proper tools to do it with. I’m not super showy but those Bluestars man, they just make me drool.

  4. That brown stove is pretty, but I really don’t get the high-end appliance thing. What is wrong with a plain rental quality stove that costs $200? They work fine. In fact, if they are anything like toasters and teapots, they work BETTER than the high-end stuff.
