RIP A&S PORK STORE?
I am a landlord. I believe I am not too greedy. Hence my sign off.
What we have here in Park Slope is not fair. It is a cartel of landlords that hold most of the commercial property in Park Slope. This keeps prices up. Like OPEC they simply refrain from putting product on the market until their price is reached. As far as I am concerned, this is an unfair trade practice and needs to be dealt with harshly.
My idea is to have Park Slope residents stand up for the local merchants that are being unfairly gouged. This is to protect all of our interests. Like everyone else I am interested in protecting the neighborhood from pricing out small but important neighborhood institutions like A&S.
The neighborhood folks should stage a peaceful demonstration outside of A&S everyday at all business hours. 3 or 4 people on a shift. Holding signs that say, “Landlord Be Warned. We will boycott any new tenant at this locationâ€. This will send a chilling message to anyone who is thinking about renting the space. Landlords may think think twice before gouging.
Not too greedy.
