The $20 million reconstruction of Water Street in Dumbo, which has been underway since last Fall, reached an important milestone this morning with the arrival of the water main pipes that are to be laid under the road between Old Fulton and Main Streets. (We’re assuming these are the 36″ pipes referred to in this older post on DumboNYC.) While this is the most major part of the project, construction is expected to continue well into 2011.

  1. I think they will work with pneumatic pressure. the Jehovahs will be placed in individual capsules and before you know it they will be sucked out to Warwick -ahead of Armagedon.

  2. Manhattan Water Street? That is where all the giant bank buildings are. This is Fulton Ferry. The little building under the bridge is 4 Water Street and is a replica of the historic building that had been there until it finally collapsed from neglect about ten years ago.

  3. That whole Fulton Ferry area needs a makeover. All the buildings, with the exception of the Eagle warehouse and the rebuilt 4 Water Street are decrepit and partially or completely vacant. What’s going on down there? Other than the tourists and the bridal parties taking pictures on the Fulton pier, it is dead man’s gulch down there.
