  1. As usual, Norman “OCD” Oder makes no attempt to be fair and balanced. He asks why a search was not conducted for the leader of the ESDC, but when Dan Goldstein hired his then-girlfriend and now-wife to be an organizer for DDDB (and later gave the position to himself), Oder never wrote a word about it. Classic double standard.

  2. That broker article doesn’t surprise me. Sounds like broker backlash going on. Almost every person I know in NYC who has dealt with a broker has at one point or another gotten screwed over. And somehow the NY Times thinks it’s some kind of displacement of frustration onto brokers?? How about most people have been screwed by one and are rightfully angry, instead of misguiding their anger? I think it’s now a time where the consumer/client has power and the broker doesn’t. People are starting to demand more. I don’t know that it’s reasonable to have a broker clean your apartment, but I do think brokers could actually DO something to earn 6%. I sold my apartment recently and met with some brokers to represent me. I knew more about the comps then they did. It was a joke. I sold it by myself without any issues and saved myself the fee. I’m sure there are some good brokers out there, but the majority I have encountered have been seriously unhelpful.

  3. Brokers should be doing a lot more for their 6%. But, this being New York City, I’m sure that most of the buyers and the sellers are neurotic. The brokers, even more so. I’ve never met someone in my line of business as arrogant and nasty as a few brokers that I’ve run into.
