Daily News headline at least read ‘south Brooklyn’ not ‘South Brooklyn’. whether Hamill wrote the headline who knows.
and not sure whether would callneighborhood names rebranding…. historic districts were created for good reasons and then those names eventually became names used for a wider area beyond the legal historic district.
Bob;
Not at all – I’m with you on this! Given that folks have been “rebranding” areas with historical names (such as Cobble Hill), they ought to know the distinction between South Brooklyn and southern Brooklyn. The former has a long tradition and is still in use.
The film referred to in the Daily news article, set in Sheepshead Bay is in southern Brooklyn, NOT South Brooklyn. Anyone writing about Brooklyn SHOULD know the difference. Am I just being an old curmudgeon by complaining ? 🙂
