The teachers union will continue to make sure that school choice for lower- and middle-class parents, through voucher programs or other mechanisms, is a fairy tale.
My oldest son is in a catholic high school (Christ the King) because with the exception of the specialized high schools, there are not many good choices out there. I wish I could afford to put my two younger children in catholic school. If it were possible to claim the tuition on my taxes, perhaps I would be able to place my little ones in catholic school as well.
The Board of Education is aware that their system is flawed, why not allow parents to claim the tuition, if they believe their child will get a better education in catholic school. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few good public schools in NYC, but they’re impossible to get into.
Elem, HS and college here….Sisters of Mercy in Elementary, Sisters of Mercy and Brothers of St’ Joseph in HS and Franciscans in college.
And look how well I came out.
NO!!
Elem. and High School!
This is what so many years of Catholic Schooling will do to a person.
Did you get expelled from the first one??
I went to two of the schoools that may be shutting down 🙁
