Menorah Lighting at Borough Hall
At 5 p.m. today, Marty Markowitz will oversee the lighting of Brooklyn’s official Menorah in front of the Supreme Court and Borough Hall at the corner of Montague and Court Streets. After words from Marty, Yossi Goldstein’s World Renowned Children’s Choir will perform.

Actually Marty does celebrate both Ramadan and Kwanzaa. During Ramadan he holds an Iftar – Fast Breaking meal where he honors Muslim community members who have worked hard toward the betterment of Brooklyn in the previous year. During Kwanzaa he lights a Kinora which stays lit throughout Kwanzaa. As for the Buddhist or Hindu celebrations I am sure if the Buddhists and Hindu’s approached him, he would sponsor it. Queens by the way has the largest Hindu and Buddhist populations in the city. The Queens beep should definitely be doing something to hone those tradtions. I say the more the merrier.
Totally concur, this practice should stop and Marty should be ashamed of himself indeed. How about celebrating Ramadan in front of City Hall or Kwanzaa or some Buddhist holiday?
