  1. I have located a company named Americana that makes absolutly beautiful custom venetian blinds in the period design. This is to say all wood head rail and wonderful bold solid brass mechanisms for the function of tilting the slats rather than the usual metal and plastic head blinds. This is perfect for the restoration of an original Brownstone.

  2. I don’t think Venetian blinds are appropriate for a bay window, but for conventional windows, Venetians can be quite handsome when done correctly and with quality materials like wood…not the cheesey one-inch aluminum slats (like I used to have but will never use again). Wood can get rather pricey, but the results are attractive and worth the expense. Dressing a bay window can be a challenge, but with patience and research, you should be able to find something appropriate and pleasing to you. Good luck!

  3. Those aluminium tracks are SO ugly, but I’m seeking a solution for my bay window and I despise the Venetian blinds that absolutely everyone else in the nabe seems to use. I like the hook-and-grommet idea in the article, but a definite no on the above.
