  1. I post this again here as I did on the other Park Slope blog, for you imbeciles who complain about kids, ie, this guy “butterfly” above:

So your against “breeders”? How sad. Yes, let’s just forget about the procreation of the human race. What kind of person complains about children? Seriously? Is it because they rob and steal and bring down property values?

I was wondering about these attacks of children in China lately. Wondering who could do such a thing? Now it all makes sense. People like you who are obviously mentally deranged. Nothing better to do than complain about the 95% of the population who will end up having kids at some point?

Lot’s of us grew up here in the city of New York. I don’t even have kids yet, but we’ll raise our kids here too someday. That upsets you?

You’re obviously not from Brooklyn, using “BK” in your name. Something made popular in the last few years since you came here from flyover country, right?

Isn’t it obvious that anyone who has something against kids in the city either grew up someplace shitty in the middle of nowhere and/or realizes once they have kids they’ll be too poor to be able to stick around?

How sad for you. Just do us all a favor and go back to wherever you took the greyhound here from, you piece of trash.

  2. What kid doesn’t eat plain pizza? The Fornino in Williamsburg only had pizza and salads and my amazingly picky daughter never had any issue eating there. (As long as we got the “nice” pizza that had nothing on it for her.)

  3. You know it is a non-story if rob is taking the side of PS parents. Rob, your theory sounds like a good one. La Villa and Aunt Suzie’s have the most to lose here, although there should be plenty of business for all three.

  4. i was reading that the Yelp complaints about the no kids menu was from other restaurants in the immediate area.. which makes sense considering that restaurants and businesses go on yelp ALL the time and try to create drama and fake stuff. i dont for a second truly believe that parents in park slope went online and complained about their menu selection.. (from the looks of it there are a ton of simple items) but who knows..

    *rob*

  5. re: Vito Lopez—district leaders….how are they chosen? in election in november or just through democratic clubs?
Not that I like Joann Simon – but anything to limit Lopez’s power is worth it.

  6. FIPS is having a get-a-real-news-subject moment. Fornino opened in one of the top family neighborhoods in the city in one of the only large spaces in that neighborhood. They’re going to get kids eating there. The restaurant needs to deal with it (and did) the patrons need to deal with it, ballers and all. Has nobody seen all the kids in La Villa across the street? Good for Fornino for willing to be accommodating to their local customers and in a recession. So the big news here is they’re realists; it means they should do well.

  7. CGar — It looks like some folks who went there with kids didn’t get a kid menu and complained about it online. Picky kids wouldn’t eat the fancy food. The FIPS headline hints that there is, in fact, a kids menu, which may have been revealed in the comments to the article, but the comments wouldn’t open.

I’ve got a picky kid, but jeez: 1. It’s an Italian restaurant. If they have pasta, they can make it plain. 2. It’s an Italian restaurant. If they have pizza, they can make it plain. 3. I like when we go someplace that doesn’t have the same old M&C/burger/chicken fingers/grilled cheese kid menu — our daughter has to give some thought to the menu and what will work for her. Very rare when we can’t work it out.

I would suggest that any Italian restaurant can make some variation of grilled cheese, since bread and cheese would be in abundance in the kitchen, but we actually went with some little cousins years ago to a place in Little Italy that could not manage this. We asked them basically to melt some cheese over some toasted bread for the kids, and they ended up bringing us a plate of spicy grilled chicken and expected us to pay $18 for it. They also made the kids wait about 15 minutes after all the adults got their food.
