  1. Verrrry interesting to see the article from the Eagle re: infrastructure lagging behind development.

Dennis Holt has, for years, been in love with Atlantc Yards, and thinks putting housing in Brooklyn Bridge Park is a great idea and the only possible way to finance the park.

Yet somehow neither he nor his editors can see that putting 1,200+ units of new housing in a park (housing being antithetical to parks in the first place) simply places more pressure on the infrastrucure that the Brooklyn Eagle is bemoaning.

  2. ooooh i saw on the news this morning the story about the daycares closing down in gentrifying neighborhoods. as much as you all know im not very pro-children, i find it kinda f’ed up. those day cares are used by mothers who WORK! who HAVE to work and have no other babysitting/nanny options. of all the programs to cut, i think nixing low income daycare is one of the worst. cuz you know, it will just be SO much better when the kids are left in the care of unfit babysitters or the mom has to stop working. laaaame. the angle about this happening in gentrifying neighborhoods of brooklyn is interesting, not sure if it was just political spin on the situation. just saw the news segment on it tho, havent read the times article yet
