which begs the question- why go to the beach? What a great way to get sunstroke.
omigod look at the orthodox women fully dressed from head to toe while at brighton beach. how do they stand it???
not sure why the nanny article was included, but since it was, I must have a rant. I find it so annoying this general pc notion that nannies are somehow oppressed exploited people. This review of the play mentions a “nanny who has to work on their child’s bday and starts to cry” – guess what? welcome to being a working mom! Most nannies in my neighborhood make $15/hour with no taxes, and that is substantially more than the average wage for women in this country, which according to NYT article yesterday was something like 13.84 and that’s before taxes. Until I got a raise a few months ago, my nanny was making only slightly less than me, and I have a master’s degree. Many women I know do not go back to work because they can’t find a job that will make much more than the nanny will. And in fact, many immigrant women nannies make substantially more than their husbands – and have less strenuous jobs. I’m not saying that many mothers are not horrible bosses – I’m sure they are – but guess what again?? Welcome to having a job! there are awful bosses out there. So anyway, that’s my rant. I’m just sick of the “nannies are so oppressed” bandwagon that everyone is so happy to jump on without any reflection whatsoever.
Re: Mass. Woman Facing Foreclosure Kills Herself [AP/NY Daily News]
Why would they hold auction while the woman was still living there? Cold-blooded cut throat or am I missing something? Very selfish towards the husband and son. And I’m not sure life insurance will honor a claim.

Long lines, no slices and no plastic. No suprise. Greedy bastards. But still, the best pizza in Brooklyn and arguably the best in NYC.
