Last week we noticed that a new store by the name of Boutique Thrift was preparing to opening at 469 Vanderbilt Avenue at the corner of Gates Avenue. We weren’t able to assess the merch from outside, but its proximity to The Flea should be a boost for business when it opens imminently. GMAP

  1. Seriously some people need to stop and think a minute before doing something.

I recently wandered in to this new Thrift/Boutique shop and I had an amazing experience. Now before you all damage this business’ reputation, try and listen to some of the facts.

While shopping there I was pleased to find out that this shop is a %100 Non-Profit organization, and all profits go to a organization famous for helping to cure kids that are sick with cancer. They have been helping sick kids for many years.

On top of that, the service, quality of the items, and prices were amazing.

And about the bed bugs, well I can’t vouch for that, but if your so worried clean it yourself. After all you will save money in the long run because of they’re great prices. The winter coat and shoes I Bought were Fine.

They also have a huge variety of items from clothing to furniture to books and more.

So in the future before slandering and damaging a reputation of a business or anybody for that matter take a second to know the facts.

Just remember by buying yourself something in the process you are helping save a child’s life.

  2. Good tips, that. You could also bring along ziplock bags and put whatever you purchase in them while still in the store, seal them up and once at home leave them in there a week before removing. That’s supposed to kill bedbugs and moths and carpet beetles.

  3. Not that threat of BBs would stop me from shopping there or anywhere, btw. All clothing purchases that I bring home go straight to my dryer, and the shopping bag immediately deposited in the exterior garbage can.

  4. Sorry, but the BB scourge is here to stay. At least for a number of years. And a vintage store that sees a steady stream of second hand merchandise from who-knows-where is basically a hotel for BBs. They easily transfer and can migrate to cracks in wood, furniture, etc… One tainted item can lead to an entire infestation. All store owners need to take precautions, clearly, but second hand shops even more so.

  5. They’re taking a lot of measures to ensure no bed bugs. Trust me, I was rude enough to ask 😛

Also, they’re very nice people and have a great selection of kids stuff in the basement. But they are closed on Saturdays, so no Flea traffic, which — it’s true — is kind of shame, business-opp-wise.

The store is a charity for an organization, Project Hope. I think they work with children with cancer.

And, uh yeah, IMBY, same building.

  6. ew i never had bedbugs i said i saw two dead onses in my laundry room which is basically in another building. however it seems like the whole bedbug hysteria kinda went the way of the swine flu, so maybe it’s not as problemetic as people said it would be

    *rob*

  7. Rob, you are really SUCH a pussy.

No one complains as much as you do. You are one of those whiny brats that you like to complain about.

And you already have bed bugs anyway, so what do you care?
