Today Suzanne Spellen, better known ’round these parts as Montrose Morris, will give a talk about architecture in Bedford Stuyvesant. Morgan Munsey, of the Save Bedford Stuyvesant blog, will also speak. The event is meant to shed light on the need for further landmarking in the neighborhood: “Although there are currently two designated historic districts in the area, the vast majority of Bedford Stuyvesant’s architectural splendor is unprotected. The recently-formed Bedford Stuyvesant Society for Historic Preservation, a coalition of concerned neighborhood block associations, and the landmarks committee of Brooklyn Community Board 3 are working to correct that and will be on hand to answer questions about their campaign.” The talk is taking place at the Historic Districts Council at 232 East 11th St., between 2nd and 3rd avenues in Manhattan. It’s at 6 p.m. and is free.
