Solomon’s porch recently redid their entire menu, and apparently the service too. Still a casual vibe and BYOW, but nice entrees now.
Solomon’s Porch is an interesting place. I to have visited and the food is not that good nor is the service. The crowd is nice on jazz nights but, if it’s more than 10 people, you better bring your own food!!!! Maybe as the hood comes up so will the porch.
Had a great sweet potato pound cake at Solomon’s Porch on Stuyvesant last weekend. I really want to like that place, but what is up with the service? I like a casual vibe as much as the next person but when you order something and 10 minutes later still don’t have it but the one person working there is having a looooong chat with someone, it’s just frustrating.
I tried their sweet potato cheesecake at the Brooklyn Eats festival. Delicious!
Without a doubt, this is a slammin’ cheesecake! Besides other great baked goods,Shakoor’s offers delicious soul food dishes as well. Plus, the vibes are always warm and friendly. I like this business alot.
Yes it is. If Fort Greene/Clinton Hillers want to sample the sweet potato cheesecake, they can usually get it at the Java Dave’s coffee shop on Lafayette between Carlton and Cumberland. But Shakoor’s is even smalller than that shop, just a counter and small sellection of some yummy pie and cake.
