Sunset Park is finally getting its own yoga studio! On Sunday, Surasta Yoga will open at 462 36th Street, less than a block from the 36th Street subway stop. I look forward to attend a class soon.
Just took a class here, the first day it opened for business… there were about 10 people in the class, and it was great! Nice floors, light, music, good teacher. The best part was after class everyone hung out and had a cup of tea together, and talked about what we love about our ‘hood. (and yes, that includes the bowling alley… and i agree the bartender is awesome.) The vibe is really down to earth and inclusive, not your average yoga fart pants studio. Check it out for yourself before you hate on it.
The name of this studio as actually spelled incorrectly. It’s Suryasta Yoga. Looks like it a good addition to the nabe!

I don’t know about shops but you can go bowling around the corner.
are there even any shops in that area that sell yoga fart pants? will people have to pick those up in park slope?

I went on a tour of this building yesterday. It’s really fabulous. All these great floor to ceiling insulated windows and great views on the third and penthouse floors. The yoga space has a nice terrace, too.
