Streetlevel: New Jewelry Store Opens on Fifth Avenue

It takes some cojones to open up a jewelry store at a time when discretionary spending has all but evaporated, so we’ll be rooting for the new store St. Kilda which has set up shop at 71 5th Avenue in Park Slope. Gowanus Lounge, who got the scoop, notes that they have a “nice selection of merchandise.” A selection of their bracelets, earrings, necklaces and rings a viewable on their website. Has anyone checked it out in person yet?

cojones for sure! but hey doing what you love and going for it all the way – still an admirable thing imho. at least they aren’t opening up in soho/nolita with ridiculous rents and price points. does seem like a good demographic / price point so maybe they’ll have some success. And PS real estate seems to be holding up better than manhattan, so maybe its the best place to be customer-wise for the time being. wish them all the best!
well if they sell stuff all over the country in other stores then this store doesnt need to do well to stay open. They seem to have just needed a store as a face of the company.
i saw this place shortly after they opened and just LOVE their stuff. funky and feminine and unique. it was a wee bit out of my old navy budget, but i bought a pair of silver earrings that i get compliments on whenever i wear them. very cool jewelry.
Nice designs; I covet the owlie necklace. I wish them luck.
Park Slope needs a jewelry store like it needs another annoying bitch pushing a stroller.
BHO…go to Chinatown and buy real 24 karat gold.
The Gowanus Lounge website has been down all day. I can’t stand that website or the writer. So many typos, and such a negative tone in so many of the posts.
As for this place, I’ve heard great things about the jewelry. It’s sold in shops all over the country (as you can see from their website) and this is their first actual store.
A client of mine just bought a few pieces from them recently. Should be enough to get them through a couple months rent…
The space looks nice too, when I walked by.

Seriously. Gold needs to be hoarded.
