The storefront at 50 Henry Street, formerly a cafe and more recently a wine bar, has been getting a new look for the new year. When we snapped this photo before the holidays, the trim was still yellow; now it’s dark red, which makes sense since the new incarnation will be a joint venture between the owners of nearby Cranberry’s and Henry’s End, reports the Brooklyn Heights Blog; according to the Brooklyn Paper, former owner, the disgraced Dan Kaufman, has no connection to the new venture. The combined effort will include “casual, good food” for breakfast and lunch and a wine bar with small plates of cheese, paté and salads in the evening.

  1. That corner has had a peculiar collection of storefronts over the years – before it was a wine bar it was a coffee shop, before that it was a Cuban restaurant, before that it was a place for kids, before that it was something else and before that it was the creepiest grocery store ever (or was it a flower shop that sold some groceries?) The wine bar seemed to be doing okay – then the scandal. The location seems jinxed…

  2. makes sense for henrys end to be involved in this one. they need a place to park the people waiting for tables. before the last one shut down the owner (at least i think it’s the owner) used to be in there every 20 min getting people who had their names on the list waiting for tables. worked out well.
