Most of the retail news along Myrtle Avenue over the past couple years has been strictly of the gentrifying sort: restaurants, wine shops, boutiques. Which is why we were a little surprised to see this decidedly un-upscale laundromat announcing its grand opening at the corner of Myrtle and Hall. Word is that the proprietors are the former owners of the Chinese restaurant that used to occupy the space. GMAP

I dont see laundrymats as a sign of ungentrification. Its like saying pizza places are a sign of ungentrification.
I bet the people who rent the apts next to it are happy. Shorter walk to laundromat. It is a service and its good to have besides new restaurants and stores. Lets not forget that not all the renters are blessed with washer & dryer in the unit.
