gcorner_090909.jpgReaders over on Brooklynian mentioned that Grecian Corner, the Park Slope diner that has closed for renovations, might never reopen. One reader thought it was going to reopen as a chicken restaurant (a chicken restaurant?) and another thought they had closed for remodeling but missed their June reopening deadline. The phone number for Grecian Corner has been disconnected. Does anyone know the skinny? GMAP P*Shark DOB

  1. It was horrible! But I loved it at 3am and they always hooked it up the on Gyro Platter and Taziki Sauce! Oh well as long as it doesn’t become a Starbucks, McDonald’s or a Bank I am good!

  2. People might have a soft-spot for the Grecian Corner, but I don’t. I live nearby and always found the place to be pretty gross. And please don’t get me wrong, I love good NY coffee shops. Joe Jr. on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan (sadly closed when the landlord did not renew its lease) was a favorite spot of mine. Hopefully something good will open there.

  3. I saw that space being marketed for sale/lease a year ago, so I’m guessing they are on their way out. I’m guessing the 3rd generation has better things to do than run a diner in Park Slope.

  4. Well the chickens have to eat somewhere, don’t they? This just another tragic example of gentrification. why can’t they just call it a “coop”, like they used to? the’ll probably double the feed prices. Before long there will be no chickens at all. “Chicken Restaurant” my ass.
