StreetLevel: Fitness Collective Coming to North Slope

The 5th Ave. space that used to be a 99-cent store between Bergen and Dean is going to be offering pricier stuff pretty soon. Fitness Collective, the personal training business with another outpost on 7th Avenue in the Slope and one on Court Street in Cobble Hill, has leased the ground-floor and should be open sometime in August. The immediate area already has a few fitness places close by: There’s that boot camp place around the corner on Flatbush, a Pilates studio and yoga center a couple blocks further south, plus that gym on the corner of Union. Room for another in the mix?
I know that trainer sitting in the picture and he rocks! I used to train with him at The Slope and he is a great guy. It’s obviously more expensive to have a trainer but you get such an incredible workout.
These guys are great. I go to the one on Court. It’s not really a gym. It’s training and classes with a variety of qualified trainers. So the workouts change and keeps things more interesting. I’m so glad to see they’re doing well.
Rents on these spaces are around 10K per month or so.
We could REALLY use another New York Sports Club in the North Slope…Like up on Flatbush near to the Crunch.
I dislike Crunch, am a member at NYSC, but 5th and 9th is a bit of a hike from up near 7th and Flatbush area where I am.
I think they’d be able to fill it up, no problem!
Dorks
Whats the rent for that kind of space?
I go to the Crunch on Flatbush. That place is packed to the rafters most nights. I definitely think that there’s room for another gym ’round these parts.
But, this is a different kind of service, right? It’s just personal training.
3:28….um, you wonder how they make money? Ever looked at the price of a personal trainer lately? They ain’t cheap. And if you get a good one, they are -worth it-.
3:28, I don’t understand it either, but somehow they are able to make it work out.
get it? work out!
Sorry i disagree, your’s was much better.
A fitness place just opened up on 5th and 6th. I don’t understand how these places make money with the rents in the area being so high.
