Streetlevel: Connecticut Muffin Getting Some Competition
As Clinton Hill Blog reported back in August, the storefront space at 154 Vanderbilt Avenue, formerly, Frosted Moon Emporium, will soon be Krumbs Bakery. The impact on the Connecticut Muffin just a block away remains to be seen. GMAP

i love the black and white cookies in plastic.
Please don’t be another place that just sells cupcakes and calls itself a bakery.
You can buy great bread at that new market opened by the Smoke Joint people. They’ve got a few different bread varieties.
Try the Bittman method for making your own bread:

After the uproar on this site regarding the bakery opening up on Flatbush called Da Cake Spott, I was waiting for someone to comment on the name of this establishment or the signage or something. People never disappoint.
I will sell you my bread machine 5:42. Plus my yogurt maker. And my Foreman grill. And my meat thermometer fork.
$14 a loaf! OMG… bake your own, it’s so easy, and the aroma of baking bread is mmmm
good.
I second the request/ hope for good, fresh bread (and for something less than the $14 loaf at Choice!).
Wow do I hope this place is good. Connecticut muffin does not overwhelm. Also, there is nowhere, including CT Muffin, to get a decent loaf of bread in this neighborhood (fine, Epicerie has bread and is close enough, but somehow it feels just a bit too far away from me– I’m on Vandy b/w Myrtle and Park). Hopefully “bakery” will mean more than just cupcakes! We want savory carbs!
